Board member and past president Gailon Brehm recently hosted a bird walk in the Meadow Nature Preserve for Joel Greenberg, author of “A Feathered River Across the Sky: The Passenger Pigeon’s Flight to Extinction.”
Joel, a researcher at the Field Museum and the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Chicago was in town as part of a lecture tour based around the 100th year since the last pigeon of that species died.
Joel was very appreciative of the opportunity to see a bit of preserved Texas Blackland and our work in protecting open space. During his visit, he was also interviewed by KERA radio and you can hear the interview here.
